About Us
My last name, Kauanoe, means “the misty rain.” Rain (Ua) has always felt symbolic to me. It's a metaphor for growth, new beginnings, and the kind of energy that brings new ideas to life. That idea eventually became the inspiration behind ALAUA. ALA (path) + UA (rain). It also contains letters from my name (Alyssa Kauanoe), so, in a quiet way, the brand is named after me.
I often imagine there is an invisible realm where creativity lives... a place filled with ideas just waiting to be discovered. You simply need a way to reach it, and ALAUA is the path that leads there. To me, ALAUA is a reminder that every path you choose shapes who you become. To pay attention to what calls to you. Follow your flow.
I am a mom of three and an artist and entrepreneur based in Honolulu, Hawaiʻi. I draw inspiration from motherhoold, my life experiences and surroundings.
My goal for ALAUA is this:
- Build ALAUA into a preferred household brand.
- Create art with a point of view and stories.
- Experiment with and expand product lines through innovation and creativity.
- Partner with other like-minded brands.
- Give back to the local community by creating opportunities for non-profit fundraising and eventually monetary donations.
